    Recortar los nombres de ficheros hasta los n primeros for file in *; do echo mv -i -- "$file" "${file:0:8}.pdf" done

    Y si es el resultado deseado esta la siguiente orden for file in *; do mv -i -- "$file" "${file:0:8}.pdf" done
